Setting - The Amazons

IC: Welcome to the Amazons

To my Amazon sister,

People are going to wonder why you chose to leave our home and come to a Kingdom full of males, but there are good reasons to make the visit. The Kingdom of Exiles has opportunities and experiences that simply cannot be found in Amazon lands! And I promise you that, eventually, the constant sight of men will grow less strange.

Amazons in a world of men

Unfortunately you are going to have to work alongside males, as the Kingdom believes they can do everything a woman can just as well! You must learn to tolerate some of their behaviour, as all-women teams are rare here, but never lose sight of the fact that a man cannot be trusted – either he is dishonest, or he is incompetent, and so he cannot be relied upon. Trust the judgement you have grown up with, and know that you can always rely on the other Amazons who have struck a path in the Kingdom.

Skills

Many of us who choose to come to the Kingdom are Battlestriders, and it cannot be denied that we are greatly superior to the men the Kingdom claims to call fighters. The raw, natural fury of an Amazon cannot be matched.

Those sister Wildshapers who choose to enter the Kingdom have chosen a difficult but worthy path, as the Kingdom is often dismissive of our Mother Nature’s ways. Stay firm and live by our principles, and eventually they will see sense.

Our closeness to nature benefits our Outriders as well – maybe some trained Kingdom females may approach our skill, but we are without a doubt the best at tracking and hunting down our prey.

Do not be frightened of arrogant males who think they can control you. Our ways and our heritage make us strong against these men, and you will not fall to their traps and tricks.

A word of warning

You will come across women who have very strange ideas about the role of men in society. Whatever happens, whatever they say, do not be the one to start a fight with another woman. They will never learn a better way if they think we are their enemies.

Show the Kingdom what we are made of!

OOC: Playing an Amazon

The full rules for Amazons can be found under:

Player Rules – OutKingdom – Amazons

Amazons are a group of all-female humans who typically come from lands south of the Kingdom. They are usually followers of Nature, and can be warriors, scouts or druids. Amazons must be confident of female superiority, distrust all humanoid males, and never start a fight with another woman.

Players sometimes draw on Amazon myths for inspiration, and characters often have a tribal appearance, including face paint, but none of this is required. There is no set description of the Amazon lands; the area is vast and encompasses a variety of terrain, from desert to jungle, and the tribes that live there may each have their own traditions and way of life.

If you’re playing an Amazon, remember that however prejudiced your character is IC, you must obey the Code of Conduct and make sure people aren’t uncomfortable OOC. You aren’t required to be a particular gender in real life to play an Amazon, but we do ask that any cross-playing is treated seriously and not as a joke or in a way that’s disrespectful of trans identities (IC or OOC).

As you’re not from the Kingdom, characters will tolerate you having strange opinions, but only up to a point – if you get too disruptive, you won’t have Kingdom citizenship or a guild to protect you!

Amazon Battlestriders are excellent warriors, with access to advanced combat skills that are less expensive than for other warriors. Amazon Wildshapers don’t have the bonuses that Druids from the Kingdom do, but don’t suffer the same restrictions either, and tend to make better fighters than them too. Amazon Outriders benefit from being tougher and harder to kill than an equivalent Kingdom human scout, as well as being one of the few groups with access to advanced scouting skills.

Amazons gain advantages against sentient humanoid males – as you advance in experience, you can choose from bonuses such as extra damage, better defence or resistance to mental effects if you’re fighting a man. However, there is a downside – at higher ranks, you gain similar weaknesses against other women.

Things your character would know as an Amazon:

Your character may not know much about the Kingdom itself; few from the Amazon tribes venture into a land where men are seen as equal, and the people of the Kingdom know better than to trespass on Amazon territory.

Some players have created Amazon tribes. If you would like to play a character from one of these tribes, please contact the creator for permission.
